"With the foreign Europeans—Greek, Spanish, and Russian—the position is similar, though hardly so accentuated. While the different children of these nationalities were few in number, they mixed freely with the other white children, and were rapidly acquiring the English language. Since their numbers have increased, however, they have formed little coteries of their own, and almost invariably use their mother tongue in conversation with one another. This is especially noticeable with the Greek children, who are more numerous than the Russian and Spanish, and arc by no means popular with the rest of the scholars. This difficulty with the children of foreign extraction will probably continue until English is spoken in their homes.

Report of the Administrator for the years 1915-1916 and 1916-1917. -

The N.A.L. concert at Paraparap, on Tuesday evening is described as, one of the best ever given in the Northern Territory. Despite the storm and heavy downpour of rain which set in about six  pm Sydney the attendance was satisfactorily large, about 300 people being present, and there was not one dull moment throughout the performance. .... An ex-tempore stage and dressing rooms were arranged, and the accoustic properties of the building and the cool ventilation could not have been bettered. The items throughout were excellently, rendered, novel outstanding features being a Russian dancer (presented with a large bouquet of flowers by her countrymen) and the farce which formed the finale.
