| Father Valentin Antonieff |
Father Valentin Antonieff, 1877-1962, performing a liturgy at St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Brisbane. A multitude of icons can be seen in this photograph. Father Antonieff came to Australia in 1923. He became acting head of the Russian Orthodox Church in Queensland in 1929. In 1932, he was confirmed as archpriest of the Cathedral of St Nicholas in Brisbane and was appointed protopresbyter of the Church in Australia in 1951.
