Seaman's Death Suicide on the Canberra

With several bullet wounds in his head. Alex Terescovich", a fireman on the "Canberra", was found lying dead in a pool ot blood on the floor of  the fo'castle of his ship at Howard Smith's wharf about 8.55 last night. Between his legs lay a colt automatic pistol and a little disance away were two empty cartridge shells. 

The police were convinced that Terescovich committed suicide. About 8.45 p.m. deceased left his cabin saying to his mates, "I am going away." When asked as to where he was going to sleep, he replied, "Don't bother about me." Shortly after deceased's mates went'to the firemen's quarters, and found deceased lying dead on the floor. Deceased had been employed as a fireman 'on the Canberra for the past seven years. He was 32 years of age, and a Russian by birth. On deceased's person were found £21 notes, and a pocket book, on the front page of which was written, "Please,- if any body want, tell something, tell to P. Koslik. I am left everything he sand by my ageact.— A Terescovich. 2/6/24."
